On Saturday, October 18, Trees for Halton Hills held their second planting event of the fall season. Together with community volunteers, 150 native trees were planted behind the Fire Hall on Maple Avenue in Georgetown.
With financial support from the Green Municipal Fund through the Greening Canada’s Community Canopies grant, Trees for Halton Hills has partnered with the Town of Halton Hills to plant 1,900 trees over two years. This was the fifth planting event under this project.
Among our volunteers were a great group from CAA, high school and university students, many families, and Town staff. The Honourable MP Kristina Tesser Derksen also joined us to show her support and even planted a few trees herself. It was a real honour to have her with us!
