Trees for Halton Hills wins 2026 'Green for Life Community Award'

Trees for Halton Hills has been recognized nationally as the winner of the 2026 Green for Life Community Award for its ‘65,000 Tree Challenge’.

The award was announced August 11 at the 23rd Annual National Awards of Landscape Excellence (NALE) gala at Delta Hotels St. John’s in Newfoundland. The event brought together approximately 130 industry members from across Canada to celebrate excellence, innovation and professionalism in the landscape and horticultural industries.

The 65,000 Tree Challenge has set an ambitious goal: to plant one tree for every resident of Halton Hills within five years. The initiative brings together residents, volunteers, schools, businesses and community partners to expand the town’s tree canopy, improve air quality, support biodiversity and build climate resilience.

The Green for Life Community Award recognizes the important role that horticulture and green spaces play in creating healthier, more resilient communities. Trees for Halton Hills is honoured to have the 65,000 Tree Challenge recognized among outstanding community initiatives from across Canada.

This award belongs to the entire Halton Hills community. Every tree planted, every volunteer who lends a hand, every school and business that gets involved, and every resident who supports the challenge brings us one step closer to our goal.
