The Arboretum

The Arboretum project was inspired by a vision to create a local, informative, and welcoming centre where residents can observe various tree species growing, be encouraged to plant native trees on their own properties, take action on climate change, and enhance the urban forest.

Twenty of Ontario’s native tree species and eleven native shrubs have been carefully planted and labelled in an easily accessible park on Delrex Boulevard in Georgetown. Some of these native species face the risk of local extinction.

This site serves as a signature location for the Trees for Halton Hills ‘65,000 Tree Challenge’. The highly visible open space, situated adjacent to a school and a local ravine, had been identified as underused and in need of remediation. The park will become increasingly attractive as the trees mature. Its positive impact will extend far beyond the lifetimes of the volunteers who planted  the trees.

We invite you to visit and explore! The Arboretum is located in Georgetown across from Joseph Gibbons Park on Delrex Blvd.
