Bur Oak (aka Burr Oak) is a stalwart Halton Region tree. Many of the stand-alone trees on area farms are Bur Oaks. Once established, this long-lived tree is impervious to drought and exposed conditions. Bur Oak contributes greatly to our local ecosystems Periodically it produces bumper crops of acorns that are highly sought after by birds and other wildlife. The Bur Oak in the photo is over a century old. It has been prominent on the Georgetown landscape for many decades. Kudos to the homeowners who have celebrated and protected its existence.
